Monday to Thursday Afternoon Schedule
Monday: The Roadside Waterfall & Forest Corridor
- 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Pisgah National Forest Waterfall Drive - Drive southwest down US-276 into the Pisgah National Forest. Your first stop is Looking Glass Falls, a spectacular 60-foot plunge waterfall visible right from the roadside platform. Drive one mile further to the Moore Cove Falls trailhead. This is an easy, 1.5-mile roundtrip walk through a lush forest that leads to a massive rock grotto where you can walk directly behind the waterfall veil.
- Evening (Downtown): Park the car at your hotel and head out on foot. Enjoy walkable, acclaimed downtown tapas at Cúrate or explore the lively patios around S. Pack Square.
Tuesday: Art, Riverside Vibes & Local Brews
- 1:15 PM – 4:30 PM: River Arts District (RAD) - Drive 5 minutes down the hill from downtown to the River Arts District. Grab a casual lunch near Marquee Asheville and spend the afternoon wandering through vibrant industrial warehouses filled with working pottery, glass blowing, and painting studios. Finish with a stroll along the French Broad River park path.
- Evening (Downtown): Walk down to the South Slope brewery district. Grab a wood-fired pizza and a craft beer at a local staple like Asheville Pizza & Brewing.
Wednesday: Epic Ridge Driving & Panoramic Hikes
- 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Blue Ridge Parkway & Craggy Pinnacle - Hop onto the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway heading north. Pull off at the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center (Milepost 364.1) and hike the Craggy Pinnacle Trail. It is a short, rewarding 1.4-mile roundtrip hike through rhododendron tunnels opening up to a stone summit platform with 360-degree mountain views.
- Evening (Downtown): Head to the historic Grove Arcade downtown for a relaxed dinner at walkable spots like Baba Nahm or Modesto.
Thursday: The Biltmore Estate (Afternoon & Evening)
- 1:15 PM – Evening: Biltmore Exploration - Head straight to America’s largest home, the Biltmore Estate. Because your afternoon is open until late, you will have plenty of time to tour the massive 250-room mansion, walk the manicured gardens, and catch the sunset over the estate.
- Evening: Have dinner on-site at Antler Hill Village or head back into downtown Asheville to explore the food scene along Haywood Street.
Friday: Full Day Off (The Grand Waterfall Loop)
- Morning: DuPont State Recreational Forest - Head out early to DuPont State Forest. Park at the Hooker Falls access area. From here, you can do a highly rewarding 3-mile total hike that hits three distinct, massive waterfalls: Triple Falls, High Falls, and Hooker Falls.
- Lunch: Drive 10 minutes into the charming downtown of Brevard, NC for a local lunch and a stroll past its unique shops.
- Afternoon: Looking Glass Rock Overlooks & Sliding Rock - On your way back towards Asheville via the forest corridor, stop at Sliding Rock to watch people slide down the natural 60-foot mountain water slide. If you want one last short walk, stretch your legs at the nearby Cradle of Forestry paths.
- Evening (Downtown): Celebrate your final night with an upscale farm-to-table dinner downtown at Rhubarb or The Market Place.
Saturday: Rest & Departure
- Morning: Enjoy a slow morning walking to a downtown breakfast spot like Biscuit Head or checking out the local coffee roasters before packing up the rental car and heading out.
